Beer-Soaked Grilled Cheese

I received an email from CraftBeer.com today and it referenced a recipe for beer-soaked grilled cheese and I was immediately interested.  Turns out this is a really interesting grilled cheese sandwich.  First you make french toast (where you get to use beer) and then use those pieces of toast to make a grilled cheese sandwich. Originally I wondered how you soaked the bread and how it would have any structural integrity to make a sandwich or be grilled.
